Today's State-Of-The-Market amortization calculators were conceived in the early to
mid-1980's in response to a different sets of problems (and in a spreadsheet's case,
to an entirely different set of issues) than what we see in the financial industry today.

Most of these products are geared to handle fixed calculations, with a single interest
rate, a single compute method, offer limited period lengths, and can only handle one
currency in a pre-defined, repetitive manner, thus limiting true innovation. They were
never intended to handle the complexity, speed and international standards required by
today's financial professional.
